Week 4 - Generating Traffic

One thing that we have been discussing is generating "traffic" on a blog. The term "traffic" just means having a flow of viewers to the blog. The cool thing about generating traffic is one can see all the data behind the scenes.

Some simple ways to create some extra data is to share your blog to other personal accounts. For example, one could share their URL to their Facebook. This would create a good amount of clicks depending on length of your Facebook friends list. If you don't already, create an account on the popular social media sites; Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc. After completing this share it to all of your friends and followers.

When sharing your blog, there are a few tips to keep in mind.

  1. Visuals are always a good idea. Someone is always more likely to click on something when there is a photo attached.
  2. Blog at least once a day. In the long run it will create a better set of data to interpret.
  3. Make a good pitch. Ask your friends politely click your link to help you generate some data.
Overall, every click will help. There are many ways to generate some clicks, social media promotion is just one of them. Another way to get some additional clicks it to pay for the advertisement. Some may not want to pay the "Facebook Mafia" to run an ad, but when you think about it, everyone and their grandma is on Facebook today.

For my next blog I will be going creating a Facebook ad and an analytical loo on my personal ad I am running for this blog.

Stay Tuned !
